Its almost impossible to believe its been ten years since a small grass roots group of IT people and sponsors got together to install a bunch a technology upgrades at various schools in the Buffalo area to improve access to technology and the Internet for those that need it most. 

BUFFALO, NY (cw 23) - Deny Adelman from The Educational Technology Foundation of Western New York stopped by and discussed the 3rd annual Spring Connections Fundraiser this Thursday, May 16th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Money raised will help support the organization's "Ed Tech Days", where volunteers go into non-profits, community centers and schools and install technology products donated by local businesses or individuals. Technology is the key to innovation, so help support this special group and further the benefits of modern technology.

On Saturday May 4th, the Ed Tech Foundation hosted Ed Tech Day at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament School in Depew. We had a team of 10 volunteers that spent the day on site installing new computers in the computer lab and wireless throughout the building.

The Ed Tech Board has new members! Welcome to Russ Gugino from Time Warner and Alicia Quinones from LocalEdge. They will be a great asset to the board and will be helping on marketing/PR.

Jennifer Westerholt, from Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara, Inc., joined the board of directors of the Educational Technology Foundation of WNY, where she will focus on marketing and fundraising.

Over the next few months the Ed Tech Foundation will be helping out the Boys and Girls Club of Holland as they renovate and build a new location for their club. We will be providing all the wiring and computers for their new facility.

We have some great news to share. We have expanded Ed Tech Day from just 1 day in August to once a month. This will allow us to reach many more organizations.

Jan 12th starting at 10am we will be at our office getting computers ready for all our new Ed Tech Days. We will be upgrading hardware, installing software, and putting the operating systems on. Now that we are doing monthly Ed Tech Days we need to have a good supply of computers ready to be deployed. Please consider helping on one of our "Imaging Days". No techie skills are required. A big thank you to People In for donating a number of servers to the Ed Tech Foundation. These will help an organization that cant afford file storage. We are still in need of PCs that will run Win 7.
